In
the year 2000, an underground organization known only
as X conceded defeat and closed the doors
on a series of projects. Paranoid of what the world would
bring in Y2K, X had taken in several human participants,
some willing and some not. These people were the objects
of experiments intended to awaken human traits both lost
and legendary. The reawakening of these new abilities
were to aid humans in the survival of a New World.
Even
after the events of Y2K had passed, the experiments continued
and several of the findings proved successful. Still,
X was accused of playing God and morality was questioned.
Most participants were permitted to leave and return to
their normal lives, their memories wiped of what had occurred.
A few others suffered more serious side-effects and were
detained for further experimentation. However, their continuation
came to a halt when further studies bordered inhumane
treatment of the subjects. Those involved were permitted
a chance to attempt resuming normal lives. Some had difficulties
This
leads us to Gecko, a former subject of X. After agreeing
to work for a company based in cryptozoology over time
in jail for an unspecified crime, Gecko expected an easy
life. The alternative proved far more difficult than a
few years behind bars.
Now,
she is an active part of the group and one of the main
officers dispatched to round up cryptids that wander a
little too close to human civilization. Some prove a little
more difficult than others.
